#Blaupunkt cape town 940 update
Wanted to update for anyone reading this thread who might have this same Blaupunkt unit.Īfter a bit of trial and error with Maestro RR firmwares, I discovered that for the Blaupunkt Cape Town 940 (which is Blaupunkt Model #10114039xx and the same as Cape Town 945, Columbia 945, Atlantis 945) one can use either the Axxera or Boyo firmware to flash the Maestro RR and retain swc. I fear the RR is still sending out no, or incorrect signals that the head unit can't decipher, but I will call the Rockford guy to rule it out. The only thing that happened is on one option when I tried to assign a button to volume up, without me pushing a button at all, the volume rose to the top and kept trying to go up further. Well, I tried every possible setting in the head unit's swc app to assign button pushes and no luck. Since onstar doesn't even go through the head unit and uses the little speaker, shouldn't this indicate a problem with the RR flash? But in reality the Onstar prompt is being engaged when I hold down the seek button (which should be assigned as seek-). Holding down the voice button should have brought up onstar bluetooth voice prompt. You can see how I assigned the buttons at flash. I am still confused on whether the RR has been flashed correctly in the first place though. Thank you so much for all the time and effort. All the rest is internal on the radio and its SWC programming. As far as the wiring of the RR to the Radio, just the 3.5mm from the RR should be connected the SWC jack on the radio. This should get those Buttons to work correctly. The support of Blaupunkt Radios is handled by the Rockford Group and can be reached 180.

That process is outlined in the manual of the radio and those support guys were completely willing to assist in that programming procedure. Once speaking with the Blaupunkt support guys and they have instructed me that the Radio still needs to be programmed for each function desired. After research and phone calls for a few hours today was able to isolate what was happening. There is a breakdown between the RR and the radio. Blaupunkt is expecting to see data that would come from a Key 1 Key 2 Gnd type steering wheel control system. So the problem then still appears to be that the RR is not converting the GMLAN signal into the proper signals that the Blaupunkt can understand. Wondering if that means the Key 1 and Key 2 inputs on the head unit would not be able to understand that if wired directly. It seems that the RR must be using the Low Speed GMLAN wire to determine steering wheel button pushes.
